1 Year Check Up

Yes, I know. She's now 13 months. I have a life people!

I love trips to the doctor, as long as they're the scheduled kind. (Not the emergent my is super sick kind!) Aside from losing a shoe at the doctor's office, it was pretty uneventful. Madeline weighed in barely scrapping the 18 pound mark, which puts her in the 5th percentile for weight. She is now 28.5 inches long, making her 25th for height. Needless to say, she is still a tiny peanut! Looks like she will be checking at the back seat of the car for quite a while longer.

Developmentally, she has perfected standing up on her own, so walking and running are now her primary means of travel. She is talking so much and picking up new words every day. We are constantly amazed at her communication skills and her ability to understand us. Her favorite skill these days is waving 'bye bye" to everyone, whether they're leaving or not. She is still suffering from crazy stranger anxiety, but plays well with anyone when she gets the chance. Her hair is getting so much longer, but there's still not enough to pull up in pig tails yet!

And now for the updates I've been meaning to put up...

Madeline and friends cheering on the Colts at the Superbowl. Fortunately she was asleep when they lost.

And now for the updates I've been meaning to put up....

Brad and I were just discussing how Indy has seen more snow this year than any other year we've lived here....probably even combined! Stupid global warming! We decided to let Maddie take a trip outside. She was very enthusiastic for the first 2 minutes. However her gloves kept coming off, leading to cold, wet hands. She soon realized that snow is not as charming as it appears. A girl after my own heart. Hopefully we can obtain a sled by next year so that she can the snow without actually sitting in it.

Birthday Take Two

I don't know who had the brilliant idea to go out of town for a long weekend and THEN host a party at our house, but I am going to smack that person when I figure it out. Needless to say the week of Maddie's birthday was crazy between unpacking and massive cleaning. We got to celebrate with quite a few of our Indiana friends (although not all of them) and enjoyed spending time with everyone. Between the puking boys (ok just one) and girls walking around without shirts on, it was almost like spring break in Mexico. Except for it was toddlers in the middle of our 17th day of snow! The cake was absolutely delicious and we had so much food left over, we pretty much had the same crowd back for Sunday lunch the next day. Thanks to everyone for sharing in our little girl's birthday!
Ooooh this cake IS good. (Wardrobe change shortly later)

Polite enough to read the cards.

She still hasn't figured out wrapping paper.

The arm chair was our birthday gift to Maddie. She absolutely loves to crawl all over it, but it's also a nice place for her to relax when she needs to wind down. I anticipate getting a lot of use out of it, hence why it matches the rest of our furniture.
