The Magic Number

So Brad has a co-worker who swears that 6 weeks is the magic number for babies. Apparently at 6 weeks, the wrinkles start to iron out a bit and things get a little easier. Now I am not complaining because things have gone remarkably well thus far. Madeline, generally speaking, is a pretty laid back little girl and great sleeper for a newborn. Monday was the 6 week mark, which really makes me wonder where time has gone. I've noticed that she is starting to stay awake much longer, show much more interest in toys, wake up from naps without having to eat, and being less fussy in the evenings. Monday night blew my mind though because she went right to sleep at 8 p.m. with no questions asked and no random feedings. I spent two hours pacing around, convinced something was wrong! Last night she slept 7 solid hours. 7 hours. (Picture Heather doing the happy dance right now....)

Other notables: her hair is getting lighter and there's some brown creeping into her eyes. At her 1 month appointment she had already gained over two pounds and had grown two inches longer!

2 weeks

Just a quick note. Madeline is up to 7lb 9oz after 2 weeks, so she's pretty much right on target for weight gain. We've had trouble with her having days and nights mixed up, but seem to be making progress with that. All is going well and we couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone for bringing food and for visiting, it means a lot. More soon:)
