Something Beautiful

So I've been a little down lately. A fellow adoptive mom in waiting posted this on Facebook today and once again Jen Hatmaker has kicked me in the pants:

"As you watch us struggle and celebrate and cry and flail, we also want you to know that adoption is beautiful, and a thousand times we’ve looked at each other and said, “What if we would’ve said no?” God invited us into something monumental and lovely, and we would’ve missed endless moments of glory had we walked away. We need you during these difficult months of waiting and transitioning, but we also hope you see that we serve a faithful God who heals and actually sets the lonely in families, just like He said He would."

 

Thank you to all my wonderful friends that have been so encouraging these last few weeks.

 

Crummy

The last few weeks have been mostly crummy in the adoption universe. We were notified last week to expect a 3-6 month delay in bringing our daughter home. We thought she would be here next month. I was getting baby clothes out. Now I'm just sad and frustrated.

There have been some other crummy things going on but I'm too exhausted to write about it.

As a bright green t-shirt once declared, God is in control. And I am clearly not.

Madeline's Room. Finished at last.

Brad = amazing.

No words.

Just came home from a very long day.  A day where I couldn't go refill my water glass without seeing the terror continue to unfold.

As I picked up Madeline from school today, I couldn't help but squeeze her and choke up.  When she asked me why I was sad, I just sat there wondering how do I even begin to explain to my preschooler why 20 kids went to school today and are never coming home.

Instead I just quietly explained that there are lots of kids' families that we need to pray for right now.  She looked at me very seriously and asked "Do they need us to pray for them to get hats and gloves and coats, Mommy? Because we can help them get that stuff." 

You have a big heart, kid.  A big heart.

New ornaments

Look at me: blogging from gymnastics! Just wanted to share our new Christmas ornaments because they are AWESOME. As is Madeline's fantastic new hair cut!

Blog to go?

Thanks to the ridiculous number of extra students I had in my last couple of classes, I was able to buy a new (to me) iPad. My rationalization for this was that it will help me keep up with my classes while on the go. It just occurred to me that it might help with blog posts on the go as well. So I'm trying it out while hanging out in bed. Not bad.
